Examination TextMary Stevens aged 34 years destitute of lodging upon her oath saith that she is the widow of Giles Stevens (who died about a year ago) to whom she was married at St Bennet's Church by St Paul's London 16 years ago, that he was born in Ireland but the particular part she cannot tell, that he never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor was a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together, nor hath she this Examinant nor [been] bound an apprentice, that her father John Crisp lived in and rented the Suttling House at St James's Palace Gate in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of 30 years at the yearly rent of 30 pounds but paid no taxes, and there died. Sworn the eighth day of April 1757 before Benjamin Cox.
