Examination TextRuth Armstrong aged about 60 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the Parish of of St Botolph without Aldersgate London upon her oath saith that she is the widow of William Armstrong (who died about 20 years ago) to whom she was married at the Fleet 38 years ago, that she never was bound an apprentice kept house rented 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor hath been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together, nor hath she this Examinant since the death of her said husband, that her said husband's father was a Victualler and lived in and rented an house known by the sign of the Black Horse in Dirty Lane in Long Acre in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid for the space of about 30 years at the yearly rent of 40 pounds besides taxes, and there died as her said husband hath informed this Examinant. Sworn the 14th Day of January 1757 before Benjamin Cox.
